Seasoned Style: Summer Trends

May 25, 2018

Summer is right around the corner and that means a plethora of new trends have arrived!  Here are a few to look out for and incorporate into your summer wardrobe.

Spring has sprung which means sunglasses are once again the ultimate accessory for the summer.  Even at the Met Gala, celebrities including Kylie Jenner and Migos strutted the runway in stylish sunnies. The UV-shielding lenses were seen at the shows of Moschino, Dior, Prada and many more in extravagant shapes and colours. Some sunglasses to look out for are the teeny tiny 90s-inspired shades, always-classic aviators and cat eye frames. This summer season, try experimenting with different styles.

Yes, it is true.  Fanny packs (also known as belt bags, waist bags or utility bags) are back and are here to stay!  These practical yet stylish packs have made their comeback as ultra-hype commodities.  Seen on the runway (at Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Supreme), at Coachella and on the streets of the fashion capitals, these bags are not just a summer essential but an all-year-round must. Free your pockets and your hands by keeping all your belongings in a fanny pack that can be worn as a crossbody or around the waist.

The blue-tinted eyes at various runway shows gave serious mermaid and fairy vibes.  For instance, Kim Kardashian and Mario Dedivanovic have proven time and time again that they are the reigning queen and king of makeup with their newest KKW Beauty palette collaboration featuring a bold cobalt blue.  On the runway, we saw the pop of blue at various shows, such as Carolina Herrera and Jeremy Scott.  To achieve this look, build the blue eyeshadow around the eye or add some eyeliner up along the lower lash line for an intense dose of colour.

Balenciaga! Chanel! Gucci! Versace!  Major fashion brands have been marking their signature looks with big and bold logos. It-Girls, such as Kaia Gerber, Bella Hadid and the six-year-old Instagram star, Coco, have proven that minimalism has been replaced with bold logos. In the streets of New York Fashion Week, logomania was the most recurrent street style trend.  If you are planning on spurging on one item this season, make it a logo-based garment in support of your favourite atelier.
